KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec 12, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) is pleased to announce the selection of Gregory D. Baker as its new executive director, effective December 17, 2008. Mr. Baker's hire is the result of an extensive search process that examined a national pool of candidates. As executive director, Baker will oversee the operations and organizational and strategic planning for the museum, and will report to its board of directors. "Greg Baker brings an outstanding combination of business and technical acumen," said Pellom McDaniels, III, Ph.D., president-elect of the NLBM Board of Directors. "He is well-equipped to further enhance the museum's position as a premier destination for baseball fans, historians, and scholars from across the country and around the world," added McDaniels. Mr. Baker will replace Don Motley, who is retiring after 18 years as the executive director of the NLBM. One of the original founders of the NLBM, Mr. Motley has made invaluable contributions to the preservation of the history of black baseball and to the education of the public about the segregated leagues. The museum is fortunate to have had his leadership and will continue to benefit from Mr. Motley's service%
