With a devastating lineup that featured Chino Smith, John Beckwith, Clint Thomas, Rev Cannady, Fats Jenkins and playing manager John Henry Lloyd, the Lincolns fielded their best team since 1913. Catcher Larry Brown handled a mound corps of Bill Holland, Connie Rector, Luther Farrell and Red Ryan. The Lincolns were the best team in the east until the Homestead Grays picked up Josh Gibson late in the season to help the Grays win the Eastern Championship Play-off. That was the last year for the Lincoln Giants, but eventually the ballclub evolved into the New York Black Yankees.
