Memphis Red Sox of 1938

The Memphis Red Sox never won a pennant during their entire history in the Negro Leagues. The closest they came was when they won the first half-title of the split season in 1938. Manager-catcher-pitcher Ted "Double Duty" Radcliffe led his charges to a fast start with good play from Neil "Shadow" Robinson, Cowan "Bubba" Hyde, Lloyd "Ducky" Davenport, Porter Moss and Gene Bremmer. The League Championship Series between the Red Sox and the Atlanta Black Crackers was cancelled after two games and no League Champion was crowned.
