New York Cubans of 1947 The New York Cubans won the Negro National League pennant and defeated the Cleveland Buckeyes in the Negro World Series. Manager Jose Fernandez' star pitchers Luis Tiant, Sr., and Dave Barnhill finished the season without a loss. The Cubans' offense was led by Silvio Garcia, Claro Duany, Lorenzo Cabrera and future major leaguer Orestos Minoso. |
